Parametric Pavilion
Cambridge, MA
2012

The program called for a temporary pavilion on the lawn outside of the Harvard Graduate School of Design to house a multipurpose area for lectures, informal talks and events

The design incorporates a wooden diagrid frame structure that forms a irregular sculptural shell. A solar analysis drives the degree of openness of the enclosing panels. The panels facing the sun are closed to protect the occupants from solar radiation, while the lower panels that face away from the sun are open to preserve views and permit cross breezes.
